Asian
Tower, 2nd Century
Chinese (Eastern Han period) 25-220 A.D. Earthenware pottery with green lead glaze

A tower such as this was placed among other objects in the tombs of the Chinese gentry. It reflects wooden structures that were introduced into Chinese architecture at the time, precursors of the pagoda that developed from the 2nd to 5th centuries.
